Carin reviews the karaoke book at The Duck under the watchful eyes of Jonna and Melissa. |
Friday night around 9:30 I met the girls at The Dirty Duck for a late dinner. Carin favored the locals with her vocals on "Killing Me Softly" (the hip-hop version); Melissa joined her for Wilson-Phillips' "Hold On." And knocked it out of the park.
Their performance was so good, in fact, that another karaoke-er (karaokier?) invited them to stay at the mic and do the girls' parts in the B-52s' "Love Shack." He was an older gentleman (read: just a little older than me) with a lovely bass voice; his previous offering was a fine rendition of "Chantilly Lace."
Again, they were stellar. Or as Ken would say, "golden."
Jonna decided to refrain from performing until she is sure her photo isn't posted on a "Not Allowed to Karaoke" list behind the bar.
