More patterns in the sand

I went for a LONG walk today (30 minutes each way) along the beach. It was low tide, and there were lots of interesting patterns to be seen. The sand has mica in it - it sparkles as the waves push and pull across it.

I also noticed lots of buried sand dollars. You can tell they're there by the five little depressions in the sand above them - it looks like a little man jumping with arms above his head.

I also saw a starfish beached by the low tide, but before I got my camera out the waves came and pulled him back into the ocean.
